Almost every single day I see reports from various “sources” showing the purported iPad mini (nano?) design. Different bezels, different thickness, but all with a 7-inch screen.
The screen size, if this device is going to come out, has to be in proportion to the current iPad so that it simply scales apps, rather than requiring developers to re-jig their apps. This means instead of having various app store variants (iPhone, iPad, Mac & iPad nano) you stick to what we have now (iPhone, iPad, Mac) – and even at that the iPhone & iPad app stores are the same thing, just with some specific apps highlighted for your device.
I always point out to people who send me links about this new iPad that only a year ago we had sources giving us dead cert images of the new iPhone 4S. It was to have a teardrop shape & a silver back. Moreover, case manufacturers were already mass producing cases in this shape. Because of course, iFrogZ are the first to be given schematics of a new Apple product weeks ahead of launch.
Instead of posting rumours to get cheap hits on this site, I would prefer to stay out of it until Apple actually quantifiably announce something. People have already come up with mad specs for the new iPad and new iPhone which only serve as a way to disappoint at launch.
Incidentally, the leaked images of the next iPhone are probably right because so many sources have remarkably similar images from different places. But I think this is almost purposely what Apple want. Who’s talking about an Apple Television now? Apple need to surprise people with something.
