This is an interesting concept video that ultimately probably won’t happen, for several reasons. Primary among those reasons is simply that it’s not obvious. Ok sure, none of this iOS stuff was obvious before 2007, but this is really not obvious.
It’s really cool, but I’ve seen a lot of really cool UI tweaks on peoples’ jailbroken iPhones. They’ll never make it to the masses, but they’re still cool ideas. Just not the kind of ideas that Jony Ives needs right now. It’s not simple, it’s not obvious and it’s not something people would choose usage over the standard operation of the phone. Because the standard operation doesn’t need, and shouldn’t need, a manual.
