This is the big revolution app.net needed. A proper iOS client backing it. The fine folks behind Tweetbot are doing this, aptly called Netbot. The most interesting quote from their website I could notice was…
Still have friends on Twitter? You can use Netbot to crosspost your Posts to Twitter. You can also use the search tab to see which of your Twitter friends are already on App.net.
The assumption here is that migration is wild and flowing away from Twitter. It isn’t just yet. ADN is slow and not picking up pace nearly as fast as it was intended to. I’m sure the developers are working hard, but the rate of iteration and improvement has been quite stagnent (“starring” messages isn’t a killer feature).
The major issue with ADN right now is that it’s called app.net. They’ve lowered the price, got a proper client on iOS and now they need to market themselves better.
NetBot is now available on the app store, and doesn’t require a review. It’s Tweebot for a different network and a darker icon.
Incidentally you can find my on app.net via @kev_d.
